🎤 VOCAL RANGE DETECTOR
Find your voice.
Sing your lowest comfortable note, then your highest. We'll classify your voice type (bass / baritone / tenor / alto / soprano) and show your range on a piano keyboard.
Audio never leaves your device — analysis is local.

How it works. Your mic stream feeds an
AnalyserNode that hands us 4096-sample buffers. Each one
runs through the YIN pitch-detection
algorithm (same as our guitar
tuner) to find the fundamental frequency. We
only count notes that hold steady for ≥0.5 seconds
— squeaks, half-whispers, and runs don't extend the range.
Voice-type classification uses standard SATB ranges (bass:
E2-E4, baritone: G2-G4, tenor: C3-A4, alto: F3-F5, soprano:
C4-C6). Your tessitura (comfortable range, not
extremes) is usually 8-12 semitones inside these bounds.
